TNPDS Ration Card Application Process @www.tnpds.gov.in

Ration card is one of the most essential documents one can hold, which is issued by the government of India. The Tamil Nadu Government has taken Ration Card to the next level by choosing to go all digital by introducing TNPDS Smart Ration Cards.

Tamil Nadu government is issuing TNPDS Smart Ration Card in order to provide food grains and other essential items to the underprivileged sections of the society at reasonable prices and to put an end to the inefficiency in the targeting of beneficiaries and do away with the subsidy leakages.

How to apply for a TNPDS Smart Ration Card

If you wish to apply for a TNPDS(Tamil Nadu) ration card, you have to apply for it online. Follow the below mentioned steps for the same:

Steps 1 – Visit the official website of TNPDS(Tamil Nadu Public Distribution System) i.e. www.tnpds.gov.in

Step 2 – Fill in the application form properly which is available on the official website

Step 3 – The first section of the form consist of the details of the head of the family which is followed by the details of the other members of the family. Following are the details which you need to mention:

First Section of the form

  • Name of the family head
  • Father’s / Husband’s name
  • Address
  • District
  • Taluk
  • Village Name
  • PIN Code
  • Mobile Number *(Mandatory)
  • Land line number (Optional)
  • Email ID (Optional – enter if you have any)

Next Section of the form (which consist of details of the head of the family)

  • Family member details
  • The spelling must be correct
  • The current age and gender

Step 4 – Look for “Add Member” option and click on it

Step 5 – Enter the details of the address proof, card option and upload the documents related to the address proof as mentioned on the official website

Step 6 – Choose any one of the following:

  • No commodity card
  • Rice card
  • Sugar card
  • Others

What are the Documents Required to get a TNPDS Smart Ration Card

Following are some of the documents which are required to get a smart ration card in Tamil Nadu:

Proof of Residence (any one of the following)

  • Aadhaar card
  • Electricity Bill
  • Front page of the passbook
  • Gas consumer card
  • Passport
  • Rent Agreement for rentals
  • Telephone Bill
  • Voter ID Card

Note: upload scan copies of above mentioned documents.

Details of the Gas Connection

If you have any details of the Gas connection then you can submit the details as per TNPDS:

  • Name of the person under which the Gas connection is registered
  • Oil company
  • Name of the Gas Agency Company
  • Total number of cylinders
  • Required details of the applicant and upload the photo of the head of the family (10 kb)

Step 7 – Click on the submit application form. Once done with the submission, you can then check the status of your application as well.
